Ryan Lewis, of hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, considers LaCie digital storage a key member of his entourage. Lewis has used LaCie products for years as part of his workflow for music videos, albums, and documentaries.
“LaCie has always been my #1 company for hard drives,” said Lewis. “They’re dependable, they’re fast, and they have great RAID systems.”
Lewis and a documentary crew had a chance to really put LaCie products to the test during the most recent Macklemore & Ryan Lewis world tour. For three months, the crew filmed shows and produced a docuseries that captured the energy and emotion of the tour. To accomplish the herculean task of storing all this data, the crew packed ten LaCie 5big Thunderbolt Series into the back of the tour bus.
They shot video with three Red Epic cameras during every show of the tour, generating staggering amounts of data. But their ten 20 TB LaCie 5big Thunderbolt Series – that’s 200 TB – gave them enough capacity to keep the cameras rolling, and the Thunderbolt transfer rates trimmed time off of their workflows. Beyond having speed and enough space, Ryan Lewis and his documentary crew were also impressed with the reliability of the disks and RAID system.
