LaCie Rugged RAID: Double the Speed, Double the Capacity

For photo, video, and audio pros who transfer tons of data in the field, our latest product is sure to make your lens fog up. Recently announced at CES 2015 and shipping in March 2014, the LaCie Rugged RAID features two hard drives in the tough, iconic Rugged enclosure that’s standard issue at photo shoots around the world.

With hardware RAID 0 or 1, you can optimize the LaCie Rugged for speed or for data security, according to your workflow, and use it on any Mac or PC. Get twice the speed (240 MB/s) or twice the capacity (4 TB) of traditional mobile storage. And the cherry on top is that it’s fully bus powered through the Thunderbolt connection.

In RAID 0, you can transfer a 64 GB memory card to the LaCie Rugged in less than five minutes, and even start to edit photos in the field with Adobe® Lightroom®. This time savings is a key advantage for field–based professionals who collect and move tons of data onto external storage.

In RAID 1, even if a single drive fails in the field, the data remains accessible from the other drive. This is especially helpful when you’ve got limited laptop capacity. Use it as the primary safe storage during travel.

Even though we cranked up its speed, capacity, and reliability, we maintained the toughness that LaCie Rugged products have become famous for. You wouldn’t intentionally put the LaCie Rugged through the wringer, but accidents happen. With its cap in place, it’s IP 54 rated for superior resistance to dust and water – even during operation. It’s also rated to withstand drops of up to 1.5 meters/5 feet (in non-operating mode only) and one ton of pressure.
